Transforming Springorum Park
Master Plans
Overview
Springorum Park, located in the Bochum Weitmar district, was once the site of the Springorum coal-fired power plant, which was demolished after its closure in 1986. The area was transformed into the Springorum Innovation Park in 1990, with many companies now based there. However, large portions of the land are underutilized and lack connection between different uses.
The city aims to preserve and enhance the park as a vital green space, focusing on climate compensation, urban green infrastructure, and public access. The proposed landscape and climate park will improve the quality of life, promote environmental education, and encourage community involvement, with residents as the primary users.
