Redesign of Königsstraße Pedestrian Zone
Public Space
Overview
Königsstraße, the central axis of Kassel's city center and a key pedestrian zone underwent a comprehensive redesign to enhance its functionality and appeal. Spanning Obere Königsstraße to Untere Königsstraße, the project aimed to create a unified design through active public participation, workshops, and collaboration with local stakeholders.
Key updates included standardized surfaces, modern furniture, vibrant greenery, and improved lighting, transforming the area into an inviting space for visitors. The redesign also prioritized accessibility, ensuring a welcoming environment for individuals with limited mobility and children.
